Marshalls, UCC, GIMPA, TTU headline UPAC Zonal Qualifiers

The 2017 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship is set to tip off on February 17 at the home of reigning Champions University of Ghana (UG).

The institution’s Central Court will host the opening round of games in the zonal qualifying phase.

Competing teams (28) have been grouped into seven zones and each zone will have four teams.

Marshalls University College who placed fourth in the 2015 edition headlined what is expected to be a strong battle with Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) for the sole qualification spot in Zone A.

Zone C figures to be another tough group as University of Cape-Coast (UCC) and last year semi finalist Takoradi Technical University (TTU) are set to grapple for the only quarter final spot available.

Reigning Champions UG finds itself in Zone D alongside BlueCrest University, University of Professional Studies and Ho Technical University.

Record winners Accra Technical University (ATU) is in Zone E and is scheduled to play Central University, Pentecost University College and Wisconsin University College.
