Defending UPAC Basketball Champions University of Ghana (UG) and two time winners Accra Technical University (ATU) have been drawn in easy groups for the 2017 edition of Ghana’s premier tertiary basketball tournament.

UG have been drawn in Zone D alongside Bluecrest University College, University of Professional Studies (UPSA) and Ho Technical University and games will be played on March 10 at the former’s Central Court.

Record winners ATU on the other hand, have been drawn in Zone E alongside Wisconsin University College, Central University and Pentecost University College and games will be played on March 16 at ATU’s Court.

Only zone winners get to qualify from the zones for a quarterfinal spot on April 6 and 7.

Last year’s finalists opponents did not make it past the preliminary stage in the 2016 edition with UPSA pulling out at the last turn.

With both teams set to field players from last year’s teams respectively, the two sides are highly fancied to make it out their zones once again and possibly for another showdown in the final on April 8.
