Veteran Braves of Customs player Richard Borsah has paid glowing tribute to long time basketball instructor, coach and referee Matthias Ocloo in light of his demise early on Thursday 16 February.

The long time official battled with ailments prior to his death at his residence in Dome a suburb of Accra.
Speaking to Basketballghana.com after the sad news broke, Borsah said:

“I am lost for words. That man…brought me into the limelight way back when I was in Adisadel College and playing for CYO. He was passionate about the game of basketball in Ghana and at a point was the reason why the game stayed alive.”

“His passion for the game is second to none” he added.

Borsah played for several years during Ocloo’s time as Manager of Ghana’s National Male Basketball Team. He also coached Ghana’s National Female Basketball Team and coached University of Ghana for eight years.

For several years he was the Coach of St. Mary’s Senior High School.

His administrative abilities created the Accra Basketball League (ABL) and Thome Cabalan Championship; ABL is Ghana’s most prestigious basketball league.
