Ghana Technology University College (GTUC) star Charles Annan is anticipating tough games ahead of the 2017 UPAC Basketball Championship.

GTUC, who are housed in zone alongside Marshalls University College, Ghana Management and Public Administration (GIMPA)  and Regional Maritime University College will square off on March in Ghana’s capital, Accra.

However the road to the title begins in the Eastern Region on Friday where four tertiary institutions will set the ball rolling for what is expected to be a taciturn affair.

The battle lines have been drawn for the major actors as 28 teams begin the quest to wrestle the crown from the University of Ghana.

And GTUC star Charles Annan is aware of the enormity of the task but reckons his side will give it their all.

“This is the biggest basketball competition at the tertiary level and the competition is high. The intensity and all that,” he told BASKETBALLghana.com

“There are always big teams who are touted as favourites and obviously we don’t come to mind.

“But these are normal talks. The court will do the talking for us. We are preparing assiduously for the games and we’re confident about our chances.

He added: We have absolute respect for our group opponents but we won’t be pushovers.

“There is a sense of optimism and the group is doing well at training. We’ll have to wait and see what happens.”
