Nigerian Premier Basketball League side Kwara Falcons is set to temporarily vacate its home arena, the Indoor Complex at the Kwara Sports Stadium, for renovation works to be carried out on the edifice.

The team will play its games at the indoor facility at the University of Ilorin till the renovation is completed next year.

The indoor complex will have other facilities including the Table Tennis, Volleyball, Badminton, Handball among others renovated. The entire project is set to cost 700 million Naira ($2.2 million).

Former Accra Basketball League Star and 2015 Ghana Basketball Awards Tertiary Player of the Year winner Romeo Enan plays for Kwara Falcons and was nominated as the Best Male Player of the Year at the Nigerian Basketball Federation Awards earlier this year.

Kwara State’s Basketball Association Chairman Dr. Joseph Adeyemo, the project will be of immense benefits to the all stakeholders in the state and beyond. According to BballNaija, he said:

“The project will help in the promotion of basketball in the state and will also raise the status of the Kwara Falcons in the premier league. Improvement in infrastructure is very important. We are already working on strategies on generating revenue through ticket sales, increasing fan experience during our home games and improving the quality of our games. These will be implemented as soon as the renovation is done”.
