Bentil.

Ben Bentil’s contract with the Dallas Mavericks has not been extended and the Ghana Forward is expected to return to the NBA’s Development League.

Bentil signed a 10 day contract with the Mavericks in late February on his way to become the first Ghana born player to play in the NBA.

However, he appeared in just two games totaling just seven minutes and recording two rebounds during the period. Despite Dallas’s need for wing players, the Ghanaian’s poor output put him in serious danger of getting cut.

The Mavericks have since replaced him with Fort Wayne Mad Ants Jarrod Uthoff formerly of Iowa University.
Bentil is likely to rejoin his Development League side Fort Wayne after his release.

He averaged 14 points and five rebounds for the Mad Ants prior to his call up to the Mavericks.

Ten day contract co-signee Quinn Cook is likely to stay in spite of veteran Guard JJ Barea’s impending return from injury.
