UPSA (white) won just a game in the competition.

Ho Technical (yellow) placed second in the zone.

Reigning Champions and host of the Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship University of Ghana (UG) has qualified tops of Zone D.

UG beat University of Professional Studies (UPSA) 37-27 in the final game of the preliminary round to cap off another unblemished record with three wins in the zone.

UG’s capture of the zone’s top spot seals the team’s place in the quarter finals of the Championship joining fellow zone winners Marshalls University College, All Nations University College and University of Cape-Coast.

Ho Technical University finished in second place after beating Blue Crest University College 47-45 after overtime.

Ho should have wrapped up the game in regulation time but Guard Sedem Tettevi missed one of two free throws to send the game into overtime with the result tied at 43.

UPSA finished in third place with a solitary win over Blue Crest to show for its efforts while Blue Crest’s missed three point shots cost the side a win in this year’s edition.
