UENR warming up.
UENR Point Guard Robert Brew was named MVP in the Zone last year.

The University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) Male Basketball Team is getting in the right shape for the upcoming UPAC Basketball Championship qualifiers following a string of impressive performances in the GSP Basketball League.

After a poor start to the season culminating in a fifth place finish in the first half of the league, UENR has seen an upturn in fortune since the second round began; UENR lies second in the standings.

The side is yet to lose since the league recommenced on March 4 beating West Siders 34-12 and Sunyani Technical University (STU) 39-9.

UNER plays LIR Royals in the final game of Week 10 at the Eusbett Hotel Court on March 18. LIR is ranked seventh in the eight team league but goes into the fixture with supreme confidence after beating defending champions and league leaders Suncity Braves.

With the team set to compete in the Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship (UPAC) next week, UENR is in a good position to retain its zonal division title from last year.

The team is set to battle fellow GSP and tertiary sides Catholic University College, Ghana (CUCG) Saints and STU. UENR recently adored a new set of jersey for the campaign.
