UDS in action against Wa Polytechnic (red) in the 2016 UPAC qualifiers.

The University of Development Studies (UDS)-Tamale will be among eight teams set to compete in the quarterfinals of this year’s Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship Basketballghana.com can confirm.

Organizers of the prestigious competition, Rite Sports Limited, has decided to settle on UDS as the eight team to complete the quarterfinal roster which will be active next month as games at the stage get underway.

The side was due to play in last year’s quarterfinals but missed out entirely after administrative challenges prevented the side from travelling down to Ghana’s capital, Accra to compete.

UDS placed third at the 7th Mini GUSA Games Basketball competition in January this year.

Only winners of the seven zones make it to the next stage and UDS’ presence sets up the competition perfectly for another round of intense battle.

Five of the seven zones have been completed and only Zones F and G are yet to be completed; games in those zones will be played on March 25 at Kumasi Technical University.

Marshalls University College, All Nations University College, University of Cape-Coast, University of Ghana and Accra Technical University have made it past the preliminary round.
