Tema Youth and Braves of Customs have claimed wins in respective matchups in the Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division I played at the Lebanon House Court. Tema topped DC Dynamics 59-46 in the opening game before Braves finished off Ghana Navy 72-48.

League leaders Tema led the entire game but struggled at certain points in the game to completely put away a resilient Dynamics who were in the hunt for what would have been a second win of the season.

With 3:38 left to play in the third quarter, Dynamics’ Emmanuel Mensah converted consecutive fastbreak layups as D profited from some slack play from Tema.

However, Youth Point Guard Marko Mensah halted the run with two consecutive three point shots. After DC opened the final quarter with a 10 nothing run to reduce the deficit to five (41-46), Tema registered four quick points before Mensah capped off an excellent night with two more makes from beyond the arc.

Ghana Navy competed well against defending champions Braves but could not withstand the firepower of last year’s Champions going on to lose 48-72 in the process.

Like previous games, Navy stayed in the game through three quarters but got blown away in the final minutes.

Navy Shooting Guard Brew-Smith excelled in the first quarter notching 11 points but his output was bettered by Braves Forward Daniel Aryee who powered Braves to a 21-14 first quarter lead.

Baniba Dodzie and Abdul Mutalib Alhassan joined Aryee in burying shots from deep as Braves pulled away from Navy.

A 10 point run from Navy got the score down to 50-39 but the side could not complete the turnaround as Braves Guards Jeffrey Djimatey and Hashim Brimah ensured the team’s scoring continued with crisp passes.
