The Award winning scheme, which is in its seventh year, will be held later this year with a slew of celebrated media personalities in line to be recognized for outstanding work in the period under review.
However the basketball program’s nomination in the Television Sports Program of the Year and Afari as Television Sports Personality of the Year, is an island in a football dominated field.
Other nominees including “Home Run” and Angel Sports File are football dominant programs that thrive on the popularity of the sport in the West African nation.
On the other hand, the two hour hoops program and its electric Anchor continue to break ground spreading basketball with each episode of entertainment filled news and insightful analysis on the sport.
While this is the first nomination for the show which began in November 2016, Afari has won the Exclusive Man of the Year Award (Sports Category) held earlier this year.
Courtside airs on Sunday from 16:00-18:00 GMT on Ghana channel Kwese Free Sports. The RTP Awards is sponsored by Adonko Bitters.
