Ghana Police will be in action in the 2017 Tema Basketball League postseason first round against Ashaiman Lions on Sunday September 24.

The crunch tie is the latest chapter in a strong rivalry brewing between the sides since Police made its appearance in the league this season.

Ashaiman beat Police in the final regular season game 65-53 to clinch second spot in Group A ahead of Police in third place.

With both teams set to be engaged in a best of three series in the postseason encounter, this could be the start of another big rivalry in the fast rising league in Ghana.

Aside the latest league loss, Police fell to a select side from Greater Accra Region in the Basketball Festival Final Game early this month Greater Accra having Lions mainstays Elvis Pobi-Siaw and Dennis Dugbennu on the roster.

Lions-Police will be played out following the opening Group A game between Junior Reformers and defending champions Nungua Coldstore at 15:30 GMT.

Group B leaders Tema Community 4 takes on fourth seed Ghana Navy with Tema Community 2 up against Tema Heat.
