Ashaiman Lions streak of near misses continues as the team has lost the 2017 Tema Basketball League to Tema Community 4.
Lions lost 38-47 in Game Two of the Finals Series to the home side who beat Ashaiman 58-54 in the opening game on November 5.
The loss is Lions second straight Tema League title miss following a 0-2 record in the 2016 Finals against Nungua Coldstore.
Coupled with near misses in other tournaments, the Ashaiman side has found no luck getting the job done despite impressing in every tournament.
The team finished second at the Rush Community League organized in 2015 and finished second at last season’s postseason curtain raiser.
Heading into the series, Lions were favorites to win this year’s Tema title after ousting 2016 winners Nungua Coldstore in the Group Final and Ghana Police before that.
However, a mix of poor shot selection, low energy on the boards and pushing the ball a tad too fast contributed to Game Two’s loss which Lions lead 14-6 at the end of the first quarter.
