The competition is due to be held following the successful end to the 2017 league which was won by home side Community 4 via a 2-0 win in the Finals Series.
Community 4 tips the competition off with a tie against Ghana Police at 15:30 GMT in a tricky tie for the reigning league champions considering Police’ exploits in the just ended division.
Police made the postseason but before getting ousted by finalist Ashaiman in the first round. Francophone Stars take on Ghana Navy in another interesting matchup in the second game on the schedule. The Stars destroyed Tema Community 12 71-31 in a playoff tie for the final spot in the competition.
Lions play Tema Heat in the final game of the opening round; Heat placed third in the league after beating 2016 League Champions Nungua Coldstore to the bronze medal.
Prior to the competition, changes have been to the roster as Coldstore has withdrawn from the tournament. The vacant spot has been taken over by Akatsi Rifles.
