Suncity Barves has lost its maiden game of the 2017-2018 Global Sporting Platform (GSP) Basketball League after falling 29-41 to University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR).
UENR beat the Braves to stretch its lead atop the standing to a point; heading to the fixture, both teams were tied on six points from three games.
However, UENR led by way of a superior goal difference and maintained its position by clinching the big win over its rival.
The tie was the first meeting between the sides following last season’s final day encounter which UENR won to clinch the 2016-2017 title.
2015-2016 Champions Braves missed out on a fourth straight win in this season’s campaign following the loss to the tertiary side.
Prior to the loss, Suncity had recorded impressive results over the likes of LIR Royals; Braves piped Royals 41-39 in the opening game of the season.
The loss coupled with Royals 33-18 win over Sunyani Technical University has Braves fall from second to third in the eight team league.
