Former Sprite Ball Championship Most Valuable Player Julian Morgan has tipped his former school Mfantsipim to progress beyond the preliminary stage of the competition.

The prestigious Championship is due to commence on Thursday January 4 and ends on Saturday January 6 with games taking place at the El Wak Stadium in Accra.

Mfantsipim has been drawn in Group A with Keta Senior High Technical School, Takoradi Technical Institute (TTI) and Presbyterian Senior High School (PRESEC-Osu).

Reacting to the draw in an interview, the former High School Player of the winner at the Ghana Basketball, Awards predicted his alma mater will make the jump from the group alongside arch rival Keta.

“I pick Mfantsipim and Keta to qualify from the group” he said. Both teams have won the competition in previous editions with Keta clinching the 2014 edition.

Mfantsipim is the record holder of the Championship after winning the coveted crown on four occasions; the team has missed out on a fifth trophy after finishing second in the past two editions.

Morgan led the Cape-Coast based school to three straight Championships.
