Following a shock loss to Mfantsipim School, schools from the Central Region have impressed in the ongoing Sprite Ball Championship.

The record winners of Ghana’s biggest high school basketball championship Mfantsipim fell to a 14-45 loss to PRESEC-Osu in the opening game of the competition. Defending Champions Wesley Girls High School lost 20-23 to Accra Wesley Girls.

However, teams have clinched wins to restore pride to the region with former winner St. Augustine’s College beating T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School 31-16.

Augustine’s recovered from a sluggish start where both teams exited the court for a timeout with the Ahmadiyya leading the score2-1.

Adisadel College won its first matchup of the competition with a comfortable 30-18 win over Mawuli Senior High School.

The team’s win coupled with defending champions Opoku Ware School’s 27-38 loss to surprise package Sacred Heart Senior High puts the Cape-Coast side in line for a quarter final spot.

In the female division, Aggrey Memorial Zion Senior High beat Nkawkaw Senior High 24-17.
