Adisco piped Opoku Ware 15-14.

Pope John Senior High and Junior Seminary have tipped off the second day of this year’s Sprite Ball Championship with a big win over rival St. Augustine’s College.

The Koforidua-based side clinched an 18-11 win over Augustine’s to shock the January 2016 winners of the prestigious tournament.

Pope John avenges a loss in the semifinal in that edition where Augustine’s came from behind to beat the former en route to clinch its maiden title.

The win is Pope John’s second in the ongoing competition and all but seals its spot in the quarterfinals; Coach James Okine’s side plays T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School in a game Pope John is heavily tipped to win.

In Group D, defending champions Opoku Ware School is all but out of the competition after suffering a shock 13-14 loss to Adisadel College.

The loss is Opoku Ware’s second straight loss after falling to Sacred Heart Senior High School on Day One.

PRESEC-Osu’s remarkable run in the tournament continues after clinching a 25-20 win over Keta Senior High School.
