Mfantsipim School
Mfantsipim School’s quest for a fifth Sprite Ball Male Championship title continues after Presbyterian Senior High School (Osu-PRESEC) shocked the field in this year’s competition to win the trophy courtesy a 25-22 victory.

PRESEC placed first in the tournament at the expense of Mfantsipim who are the record winners of Ghana’s most celebrated high school basketball competition.

The loss marks Mfantsipim’s third straight loss in the final game of the Championship following losses in the past two final editions.

Kwabotwe lost to St. Augustine’s College in the January 2016 edition before falling 25-27 to Opoku Ware School in the December 2016 edition final.

While the team continues to enforce its superiority in the competition, it has fallen short of completing recent campaigns on the winning side.

The immediate past edition had Mfantsipim take a 6-2 lead in the opening moments in the finals but surrendered the lead to PRESEC to end the first half tied at 12.

Despite two three point shots from Shooting Guard Gabriel Hammond, Mfantsipim couldn’t generate enough points to win the game or send it to overtime.
