Teams representing the Greater Accra Region in this year’s Sprite Ball Championship were far successful than previous attempts in earlier staged editions of the Championship.

Regional reps Presbyterian Senior High School (Osu PRESEC) and Accra Wesley Girls Senior High School featured in the male and female division final games respectively.

PRESEC topped the male division by beating Mfantsipim School 25-22 completing a remarkable run in the tournament it competed in for the first time in December 2016.

The trophy is the Greater Accra’s first since 2009 and Most Valuable Player of the Tournament Joel Koboayere was drafted from Osu PRESEC.

Accra Wesley Girls played in the female final game against Kumasi Girls High School but missed out on a winning the tournament for the second time; the team lost 29-30 in overtime.

The team played in the competition’s final game at the December 2016 edition against Aggrey Memorial Zion Senior High School but lost to the Central Region side.

Aside the duo, Sacred Heart Technical Institute’s shock campaign to place fourth highlighted the region’s markd improvement in this year’s competition.
