Eastern African country Uganda will be involved in qualifiers on the continent later this month for the 2019 FIBA World Cup in China.

Uganda’s National Male Team is in Group B and will take on Rwanda, Nigeria and Mali in qualifying games from February 23-25.

The games will be played in Mali’s capital, Bamako with the top three teams advancing to the next phase of qualifying games.

Ahead of the team’s trip to the West African sub region, Uganda Coach Mandy Juruni is adamant his side will make to the next round of games.

“Our goal is to qualify for the next level of competition,” Juruni said in an interview with FIBA.com with qualifying games a fortnight away.

Uganda has called up 13 players to camp with the intent to whittle the number to 12 as they prepare to play in the tough group.

Aside playing against home side Mali, Uganda will face 2015 African Nations Championship (AfroBasket) winner Nigeria; D’Tigers just missed out on a second straight continental title in 2017 after placing second.
