Late Mathias Ocloo

Late Mathias Ocloo received the Dedication and Valour Award in 2013 at the Ghana Basketball Awards.
The first anniversary marking the demise of legendary Ghana basketball figure Matthias Ocloo is just little over a week away as at the time of writing.

The renowned basketball lifer passed away on February 18, 2017 after a protracted illness that forced him out of the public eye many months prior to his fall.

Exhibition games involving several players in the Accra Basketball League and former colleagues were played at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu to honor him.

Basketballghana.com is yet to get information regarding a repeat one day event to mark the anniversary of Ghana’s fallen heroes.

A huge lover of female basketball, Ocloo devoted several years to develop female basketball in the West African nation and Coached the national team.

He was honored with a minute silence during this year’s Sprite Ball Championship; Ocloo served as technical director of the games for many years.

Ocloo was honored with the Dedication and Valor Award at the 2013 Ghana Basketball Awards for his commitment to the sport.

He is a founding member of Ghana’s premier basketball league –the Accra League.
