The D’Tigers are due to compete in Bamako, Mali from February 23-25 in Group B 2019 FIBA World Cup qualifying games.
Nigeria will play Uganda, Rwanda and host Mali for a spot in the next round of qualifiers and be one of five countries to represent the continent in China next year.
Ahead of the qualifiers, Coach Nwora noted his side’s ability to deliver in Mali with a lot at stake for the former African Champions.
“The key is that we have a formidable team that will sail through. Our job is to go to Mali and win” he said in an interview with FIBA.com
Nigeria won its maiden FIBA Africa Championship (AfroBasket) title in 2015 but missed out adding another title in 2017 but lost to host Tunisia.
The team is also expected to compete in the Commonwealth Games which is 50 days away from commencement.
