UMAT
Marshalls University College at the 2016 UPAC quarterfinals against Takoradi Technical.
Two teams will participate in the Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship for the first time in the competition’s history.

This year’s edition will have Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA-Takoradi) and Ghana Technology University College (GTUC-Takoradi) play UPAC games for the first time.

The two teams have been drawn alongside University of Mines and Technology (UMAT) and Takoradi Technical University in Zone 2 of the 2018 UPAC Championship.

Zonal games will be played at Takoradi Technical’s Court on Friday March 9 with just one qualification spot available.

Only zonal winners progress to the next round which will take place in Ghana’s capital Accra in April; the knockout round will determine which team wins this year’s tournament.

Takoradi Technical has participated in UPAC since the competition commenced in 2011; this year’s competition is the fifth edition.

The team’s best performance was in 2016 when Takoradi placed fourth; All Nations University College is the first team to qualify to the quarterfinals in this year’s competition.
