Regent (yellow) battled the host but lost in the end.

Regent University College of Science and Technology Male Basketball Team Captain Gabriel Ashaley has stated his side’s performance in the 2018 UPAC Zonal competition was “satisfactory”.

He made the statement in an exclusive interview with Basketballghana.com following the conclusion of Zone 3 games in this year’s Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.

The competition ended over the weekend in Winneba in Ghana’s Central Region; host University of Education-Winneba (UEW) topped the zone.

The team host institution won all three games including a 52-35 win over Regent in the final and deciding game to claim top spot.

UEW also recorded wins over KAAF University and Cape-Coast Technical University to qualify to the quarterfinals of the competition.

Despite coming in as a late replacement for University of Cape-Coast (UCC) and featuring in its first UPAC Championship, Regent was on the verge of making it to the next round prior to the loss against UEW prompting Ashaley to state:

“This was our first time and it was a great experience for us…our performance was quite up there like it was satisfactory”.
