KNUST (yellow) won all games in the zone last year.

Marshalls (black) won a hard fought game against KNUST at the 2017 Games.
The 2018 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship Zone 5 games will be played at the Kumasi Technical University on Saturday March 17.

Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Christian Service University College, Garden City University College and host Kumasi Technical will compete in the zone.

The winner makes it to the next stage of the competition; this year’s quarterfinals will be staged in Accra next month.

KNUST has dominated the zone since 2011 and has gone on to impress at the national stage placing second and third in 2015 and 2016 respectively.

However, the team has been on a slide in recent years and failed to qualify to the semifinals in last year’s competition despite clinching the zone with ease.

KNUST also failed to impress in January’s Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) Games further highlighting the side’s struggles.

Could this be the year the remaining members of the zone roster capitalize on KNUST’s slide to clinch the zonal title and make the quarterfinals?
