KsTU (purple) v Garden City

Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has clinched a 39-13 win over Kumasi Technical University.

The big win was recorded in the first game of the 2018 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.

Kumasi Technical is hosting the zonal game in Ghana’s Ashanti Region; the UPAC Championship is in its fifth year after the maiden edition took place in 2011.

KNUST is the defending champion and has represented the zone in every edition; following the big win over the host team, KNUST is in line to make another appearance at the national championship.

Kumasi Technical played a hand in the rout by committing a lot of turnovers and missing a host of shots when the side managed to beat KNUST’s tough defensive line.

This means Kumasi Technical needs to win its game against Garden City University College; the game is Kumasi Technical’s final game in the competition.

The Zone’s winner qualifies to the national championship to be held in Accra in April.
