Ahead of the big games, Basketballghana.com takes a closer look at the competing teams. In this piece, Ghana’s biggest basketball portal zeroes in on the players to look out for in Group A.
Emmanuel Wolff- University of Ghana
This man will forever be remembered for his late three point shot that secured UG’s first UPAC Title in the 2016 Championship. As a holdover from the winning teams in 2016 and 2017, Wolff boast tons of experience and big game temperament.
Emmanuel Ocquaye-Ghana Technology University College
The lanky Center is a top rated defender with a sweet three point shooting stroke and below the radar playmaking skills. His balanced game proved decisive in GTUC’s shock win over Marshalls University College to top Zone 7.
Nana Kwame-Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology
Built completely different in stature from Ocquaye, Nana is a bulky Center who dominates the paint on defense and plays above the rim frequently on offense. Kwame played in last year’s knockout phase where KNUST exited without recording a win. However, the team’s shocking 100-4 win over Graden City University College stated its readiness for the national games.
Benjamin Sagoe-Takoradi Technical University
A product of the famous Hoops Academy in Cape-Coast, Sagoe has been in the spotlight for a while featuring in Junior competitions like the Milo Junior Ball. The diminutive Guard has a lot of responsibilities on his shoulders as the leader of a Takoradi Technical side that failed to make the quarters last year.
