This year’s National Sports Festival to be in Ghana’s Central Region Capital, Cape-Coast, has been postponed following the shock announcement yesterday.

The postponement according to Festival Committee Chairman Professor Pufaa, is to allow Ghana’s contingent for the 2019 All Africa Games enough time to prepare.

However, prior to the announcement, plans were made by respective regions to accommodate the Festival’s schedule from August 12.

The Greater Accra Region announced its Male Basketball roster earlier this week and its premier club competition- the Accra Basketball League (ABL) – had planned a near month long break.

The ABL officially planned to resume competition on August 23 following the conclusion of the multi sport competition at the Robert Mensah Stadium.

This was to allow players join teams set to compete in the games and give them enough to prepare; the Accra planned to train yesterday at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu.

The National Sports Festival returned to the Ghanaian Sports Calendar last year following a long absence.
