Ghana will compete in the upcoming FIBA 3X3 Championship at the sub regional level in Benin’s capital, Cotonou due to take place on August 16 and August 17.

The country will be represented in the Male and Female categories with four members for each team in the two day competition.

Reports reaching Basketballghana.com indicates the Ghanaian entourage will leave for Benin early on Wednesday August 15.

The competition is set to feature West African powerhouse and defending champion Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Mali and Burkina Faso.

Places at the main continental event are at stake in the first stage to determine which represents Africa at the next 3×3 World Cup.

Ghana is banking its hopes on a veteran laden group featuring young but experienced players including Ghana Police Service Guards Benjamin Debrah and Zenabu Mohammed.

Earlier this year, Serbia won in the Men’s Division with Nigeria exiting at the group stage with Uganda suffering the same fate in the women’s division.

The journey to find Africa’s rep at the next world event starts on Thursday for West African nations
