The countdown is on to the start of this year’s FIBA 3X3 West African Championship in Benin’s capital city Cotonou later today.

The competition will feature top nations in the sub region in a two day tournament for places at the main continental games.

However, Basketballghana.com can confirm there have been changes to Ghana’s schedule for the games in the Male and Female Divisions respectively.

Ghana takes on Mali in both divisions in the maiden game later today with the Male Team playing Gambia in its second game.

The Female Team plays Ivory Coast next in the first of two days of 3×3 basketball which is a popular version of the sport.

Ghana is hoping for a good run at the tournament to ignite a long awaited climb to the summit of African basketball after years of disappointing absences at major international competitions.

The likes of Nigeria, Niger and Burkina Faso are featuring in the tournament this year; Nigeria represented Africa at the World Cup earlier this year.
