Ghanaian Italian Small Forward Awudu Abass will line alongside veteran Small Forward/Power forward Gigi Datome for Italy’s National Male Basketball team’s latest round of World Cup qualifiers.

Italy will be in action in the coming days as the country takes on Hungary and Poland in European qualifiers to the 2019 FIBA World Cup.

Datome is making his return to the side after a one year absence and has been with Turkish Giant Fenerbache since 2015 after a brief stint in the NBA.

The 30 year old played for Detroit Pistons and Boston Celtics in his two year run in the NBA before returning to Europe.

He checks back into Italy’s plans for the World Cup in great form in good form winning back to back league titles in 2016 and 2017 and the EuroLeague in 2017.

25 year old Abass was born to a Ghanaian father in Italy and has represented the country in the juvenile ranks highlighted with a gold medal in the Under European Championship in 2013.
