Coldstore takes aim at Ashaiman Lions record in Tema Playoffs

Nungua Coldstore is a win away from equaling bitter rival Ashaiman Lions record of playing in two Tema Community Basketball League Final games.

On Sunday, November 11 at the Tema Community 4 Court, Coldstore takes on Tema Community 2 in the ongoing playoff series.

Nungua beat Community 2 75-65 in Game One of the best of three games series last Sunday while Tema Heat piped Francophone Stars 53-51 in the other semifinal.

A second straight win for Coldstore in the series takes them to the final game of the 2018 league campaign. Making the final equals Lions back to back trips to the season’s climax in 2016 and 2017.

However, Lions lost both finals to Coldstore and Tema Community 4 in those years and Nungua has the chance to equal albeit in the absence of Lions.

Ashaiman withdrew from participating in the playoffs due to what the team deemed unfair treatment from league organizers.

Winning the league in 2016, Coldstore was halted in its title defence by Lions in the 2017 postseason.
