Opoku Ware

Opoku Ware School (OWASS) Point Guard Bismarck Akuako Sarpong has stated he gained admission to the elite school with the help of YETS Ghana.

He stated this in an interview with Basketballghana.com when Ghana’s leading hoops portal visited the after school program at Anwiankwanta close to the Ashanti regional capital, Kumasi.

Sarpong has been in the program for two and a half years and stated, “I have experienced a lot of things and even I gained admission to Opoku Ware School through the YETS Ghana program and I hope people will come and join the program so that they will also enjoy the opportunities that YETS Ghana is giving”.

YETS Ghana is a sub unit of YETS Foundation based in the Netherlands and has secured similar scholarships to young individuals in several senior high schools in the Ashanti Region.

The first year Guard watched on as starting Guards Melchizedek Yorke and Nicholas Essien led OWASS to a 26-21 win over Prempeh College in the regional final. Both schools have qualified to the next Sprite Ball Championship.
