Ghana Senior High Technical School (GSTS) will not participate in the next edition of the Sprite Ball Championship after failing to qualify.

The Giants failed to qualify from the Western Regional qualifiers played this past weekend in in the region’s capital, Takoradi.

G.S.T.S. bitter rival St. John’s School, Sekondi and Sekondi College clinched the qualifying spots in the Boys Division with St. John’s taking home the regional title.

This marks the second straight edition the Giants will not participate in Ghana’s biggest basketball tournament. In the last edition held in January this year, St. John’s and Takoradi Technical Institute represented Western Region.

G.S.T.S. has consistently failed in recent years to live up to the heights of the Sydney Larbie led teams of old that won a bronze medal.

In the Girls Division, Shama Senior High School beat Ahantaman Girls Senior High School 9-7 in the final to qualify to the national competition.

After winning bronze in the last edition, Ahantaman will not represent the region in January, 2019.
