Kumasi Girls Senior High School has won the 2019 Sprite Ball Championship to successfully defend its national title at the El Wak Stadium in Accra.

Kumasi Girls beat Mfantsiman Girls Senior High School 22-14 in the Girls Division to win its second Sprite Ball trophy and secure back to back titiles.

The Kumasi-based side is the first to secure consecutive title wins since T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School last did it in 2015.

Kumasi Girls becomes the third school to defend its title after Sacred Heart Technical High School and T. I. Ahmadiyya Senior High.

Mfantsiman trailed 8-12 at the end of the first half after Kumasi Girls took a 10-0 lead in the early minutes of the big game.

However, Abigail Agyapomaah Gyamfi came strong in the third quarter with a balanced act on both ends snarling rebounds and giving her team second chance scoring opportunities.

Surprise package Shama Senior High School placed third to clinch the bronze medal which is its first in the competition.
