Bentil

Ghana Small Forward Ben Bentil won’t compete in the Greek Basketball League 2019-2020 season Basketballghana.com can confirm.

The 6 foot 8 inch player signed for giant Panathinaikos in the past offseason but isn’t eligible to feature for the Greens due to non-local player limit in the league.

Panathinaikos went on a shopping spree prior to the start of this season signing former NBA players like Jimmer Fredette and Wesley Johnson to its roster.

However, Bentil will compete in the EuroLeague Championship for Panathinaikos; the continental competition is highly regarded in the sport.

This is the first EuroLeague campaign for Bentil who spent last season with fellow Greek side Peristeri GS after playing in France and Spain.

A solid season in the continental tournament could open up a spot for league competition for Bentil or a potential return to the NBA.

Bentil is the first Ghana born player to get drafted into the NBA and play in the NBA following his run with Dallas Mavericks. He was drafted by Boston Celtics 51st overall in 2016.
