Following its bronze medal winning exploits at this year’s CAP7 Memorial Basketball Tournament, Reformers of Prisons clinched a win in the Accra Basketball League (ABL) Women’s Division.

Prisons beat University of Ghana (UG) 44-38 but had to hang on late in the gameas UG mounted a strong challenge.

Reformers led 10-4 after first quarter. Naomi Agginnie scored for UG to trail 10-15 early in the second quarter. Reformers got back in the game after Guards Promise Ofori and Augustina Amuzu scored layups to lead 23-12 at the end of the first half. UG’s Kayla Hannabis delivered a beautiful step back move to create separation from her defender and drill a three point shot.

The two teams traded baskets early in the third quarter before Hannabis scored layups on back to back possessions. Reformers scored fast break layups while deploying a high press to stifle UG down the stretch; Reformers led 40-23.

UG went on a 13 point run in the final quarter with Agginnie draining a jump shot and Latifah Issaka adding a three point shot but UG fell short in its comeback attempt.
