Tema Rockets, Tema Community 2 and Nungua Coldstore have secured wins in the just ended round of games in the 2019 Tema Community Basketball League played at the Tema Community 4 Court.
Rockets tipped the round off with a 48-29 win over Sakumono Titans with Shooting Guard Ebenezer Borsah showing a strong performance from three point range to lead his side to its 11th win in 18 games this season.
The loss on the other hand, makes things a bit tougher for Titans in the race for a playoff spot; the matchup was originally scheduled to be played after Akatsi Rifles game against Teshie Rangers but Rangers forfeited the game handing the win to Rifles.
Guard/Forward Nana Tuffour was the main driver behind Community 2’s 59-50 win over Francophone All Stars; Tuffour scored 14 straight points in a blistering run that stunned Francophone Stars early on.
However, last season’s bronze medal winners made a strong run in the final quarter to reduce the deficit despite trailing 19-38 at the end of the first half.
The final game between 2017 league winners Tema Community 4 and reigning league champions Coldstore lived up to the hype as both delivered a physical but exciting game.
Nungua ended with a 38-31 win.
