Former Oklahoma City Thunder Center Hasheem Thabeet has replaced Amida Brimah in the starting lineup of Fort Wayne Mad Ants Basketballghana.com can confirm.

This comes after Brimah suffered a season ending torn ACL injury recently at practice as he prepared for his third season in the NBA Gatorade League (G League).

Brimah had just missed out on a place in Indiana Pacers roster for the 2019-2020 NBA season and was set to start for Pacers affiliate side in the Gatorade League-Fort Wayne.

The loss of the 2017 G League Champion with Austin Spurs to a long term injury forced Fort Wayne Mad Ants to sign Thabeet who was the second overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft.

Thabeet was infamously selected ahead of Houston Rockets Guard James Harden but his career in the NBA flamed out quickly and is working to get back into the league.

The towering 7 foot 3 Tanzanian joins Mad Ants in training camp ahead of the new season. Brimah is the second Ghanaian on Fort Wayne’s roster after Small Forward Ben Bentil played for the team in 2017.
