The Bukom Boxing Arena will on Saturday, November 2 host the Accra Mayor’s Cup Basketball Tournament. The one day competition has eight Senior High Schools participating.

The upcoming event is the first time a basketball competition would be held at the multipurpose arena that has hosted a slew of headline boxing bouts since it opened in November 2016.

Tomorrow’s competition is in honour of Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) Mayor Mohammed Adjei Sowah and is a partnership between the AMA and Rite Sports Limited. The competition forms part of AMA’s plans to develop sports in Ghana’s capital, Accra.

Four Schools have been tabbed to compete in the Boys Division and four schools have been tabbed to compete in the Girls Division.

The maiden edition of the Mayor’s Cup has the likes of St. Thomas Aquinas High School and 2017 Sprite Ball Champions Presbyterian Senior High School (PRESEC-Osu) competing in the Boys Division.

Former Sprite Ball Champs St. Mary’s Senior High School and 2018 Sprite Ball Silver Medalist Accra Wesley Girls High School due to feature in the Girls Division; Sprite Ball is Ghana’s biggest High School Basketball tournament is also organized by Rite Sports.
