Sakumono Titans chances of making the 2019 Tema Community Basketball League playoffs were given a major boost after the team bagged a 45-37 win over Spintex Knights.

Thanks to losses to fellow contending playoff teams Akatsi Rifles and Francophone All Stars in other games, Sakumono moves up to seventh place in the league standings.

Titans led 14-12 at the end of the first quarter after Okoe Johnson went on a five point run draining a three pointer and adding a layup. Emmanuel Ocquaye scored a deep shot for Knights but Sydney Larbie scored a layup in response to give Titans a 25-19 first half lead.

James Amotoh scored a driving layup before pulling off a one hand alley oop dunk. John Teye Okumoh scored four straight points as Knights trailed 22-34 but Johnson drove hard to the basket to convert a layup in the final minutes of the quarter. Titans led 37-25 at the end of the third quarter.

Elvis Pobi-Siaw converted all three free throws after getting fouled on a three point shot attempt in a 5-0 run for Knights. Johnson tipped in an offensive rebound and Amotoh scored for Titans. Ocquaye scored two shots from the charity stripe and a layup to end the game.
