Tema Youth (white) v Warriors in a Division I matchup.

Tema Youth had a strong finish but couldn’t parlay it into a win over Braves of Customs to progress to the 2019 Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division I playoffs final.

Tema lost 72-87 to Braves in the first round of the playoffs that took place at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu this past weekend.

While the matchup was overshadowed by a clash between a fan and Braves Guard Patrick Gameli in the second quarter, a highlight moment from Tema Center/Power Forward Kwame Boamah Djan got fans off their seats.

In the final minutes of the game, Djan drove into the heart of the Braves defense that was slow to react and ended up on the receiving end of a big one handed slam from Djan over Braves Center Suleman Abubakar.

He scored an acrobatic layup prior to that and Guards Brian Kwami and Kent Fosu scored from three point range to close out the game. Braves utilized a big third quarter from Kofi Asirifi and Zakari Alhassan to overturn the game’s deficit.

Tema plays Ghana Fire Service on Wednesday, November 13 at the Prisons Court in Cantonments for third place.
