Police (white) v Braves in 2019 ABL Women's Division matchup

Ghana Police Service has retained the Accra Basketball League (ABL) Women’s Division title after beating Braves of Customs in the Playoff Finals Series.

Police’s 80-59 win in Game 2 of the Finals earlier tonight at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu ensured the team successfully defended the title that has been renamed the Matthias Ocloo Trophy.

An excellent three point shooting display from Queen-Eze Dadzie proved to be the difference in the contest with the sharp shooter converting two late attempts from three point range to ice the win.

The 2018 League Champions gets the chance to lift the trophy on Sunday, November 17 in Tudu after Game 3 of the Men’s Division I Finals between Braves and Adenta Leopards.

Police trailed 15-16 at the end of the first quarter and looked to end the first half behind Customs who had 28-24 lead with 2:42 minutes remaining in the half. Georgina Ntow and Guard Mavis Mantey scored from the field and a three point shot from Dadzie put Police up 33-29.

After losing Game One 45-48, Braves started the second half on a good note forcing Police to commit turnovers. Anita Bonney scored two free throws and Gloria Gyampoh delivered an eye catching hook shot off a spin move to put Braves up 44-38.

Twum and front court mate Barikisu Sadat went on a scoring tear to end the quarter and give Police 58-47 lead the team preserved to win the title.
