Ghana Police Service Basketball Coach Chief Inspector Antwi has stated retaining the Accra Basketball League (ABL) Women’s Division title was a “difficult task”.

He made the statement in an interview with Basketballghana.com after leading his team to win the Matthias Ocloo Trophy. The title is Police’s second win in a row.

Police beat arch rival Braves of Customs 80-59 in Game 2 of the Playoffs Finals to sweep the series after bagging a 48-45 win in Game One.

Despite making the playoffs, Police failed to beat Braves in two league games this season and also lost 29-31 to Braves in the CAP7 Memorial Tournament. These results raised questions about the team’s chances of winning a second league title on the bounce.

“It was a very difficult task for us but all the same we are happy because we lost two games during the (regular) season…we trained hard, corrected our mistakes and come out big to win this title.

Police picked up 2000 Ghana Cedis as cash prize for winning the title with Braves and Ghana Fire Service coming in second and third place respectively.
