Africa Women’s Club Champions semis take place today

The semifinal games at the ongoing 2019 Africa Women’s Basketball Club Championship are due to take place later today in Cairo, Egypt.

Two Egyptian teams are due to compete as Al Ahly Sporting Club play Inter Clube from Angola at 20:15 GMT. Inter Clube is the most successful team in the history of the competition.

Prior to that game, defending champions Ferroviario Maputo take on Sporting from Egypt at 18:00 GMT; Maputo has competed in the past three Finals and won the 2018 edition which was its first ever continental title.

Inter Clube and Maputo are yet to lose a game in the tournament after winning all three games at the preliminary stage to top Group A and B respectively.

FAP Basketball lost 43-81 to Inter Clube with the latter getting top production from veteran players Italee Lucas and Astou Traore. Lucas had 11 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists while Traore had 28 points and nine rebounds.

Maputo hammered Energie BBC 104-40 in the quarterfinals.
