Sekondi College (SEKCO) and St. John’s School, Sekondi will represent the Western Region in the upcoming Sprite Ball Championship next year.

Ahead of the competition, the two schools stepped up their preparation by participating in the Western Basketball Association XMASS Basketball Tournament at the Takoradi Technical University (TTU) Court in the region’s capital Takoradi.

However, neither school managed to seriously contend for the title as both were knocked out of the single elimination competition at the preliminary stage.

SECKO played against University of Mines and Technology (UMAT) but ended up losing 3-26 and St. John’s School lost 13-36 to Viking Warriors.

Ten teams including SEKCO and St. John’s participated in the tournament that had Oil City Kings emerge winners after beating Legends Club 39-33 in the final game; Kings Guard Christopher Appiah won the Most Valuable Player Award.

SEKCO and St. John’s topped the regional qualifiers played a fortnight ago and will represent the Western Region in Ghana’s biggest High School tournament which runs from January 3-4, 2020.
