The odds were stacked against Nungua Coldstore in the team’s semifinal matchup against Tema Rockets  in the Tema Community Basketball League Playoffs this past weekend.

Despite walking into the contest as Defending League Champions, Coldstore trailed 0-1 in the series after falling 42-46 in Game One and missing Power Forward Gerrard Sappor due to illness.

After battling to tie the game at 11 at the end of the first quarter and trailing by one (23-24) at the end of the first half, Coldstore took over the second half.

Shooting Guard Jonathan Walker and Small Forward Kwaku Arhin Twene led the charge by hitting big shots against a visibly frustrated Rockets team.

The veteran leaden Rockets team felt aggrieved over what the team deemed unfair calls from game officials and couldn’t snap out of the poor run.

Unlike Game One, Coldstore handled Rockets physicality well to record the big win; Game 3 is on Sunday, February 2 at the Tema Community 4 Court for a place in the finals against Spintex Knights.
