Today marks exactly a week since the passing of Basketball Legend Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna Bryant in a helicopter crash in California.
The deciding game in the very competitive semifinal series between Nungua Coldstore and Tema Rockets takes place later today.
The game tips off at 17:30 GMT at the Tema Community 4 Court and decides that progresses to the Tema Community Basketball League Finals.
Per traditional customs in Ghana, a week after a person’s death, a gathering to celebrate the individual’s passage to the afterlife is observed which makes the occasion a special one.
It is expected a moment of silence would be observed in reverence to Kobe and Gianna; a mural of Kobe and another of Kobe and Gianna was painted on the wall adjoining the Community 4 Court.
A host of players in the West African nation like many around the world grew up idolizing Kobe and are still in shock over Bryant’s demise.
Coldstore and Rockets have a win apiece in the series and tonight’s game determines which team progresses to the final to meet Spintex Knights.
