Team UG won the 2019 UPAC edition

University of Ghana (UG) Basketball Head Coach Eric Ankamah has pinned UG’s tremendous success in recent years on hard work.

Coach Ankamah spoke at the launch of the 2020 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship at the De’lish Restaurant in Accra.

UG is preparing to compete in the upcoming Championship which runs from March 7 to April 18; UG has been placed in Zone 8 alongside Regent University College, Central University College, Central University and Regional Maritime University.

“University of Ghana hasn’t come this far just because it was a low lying fruit we just plucked somewhere, it has been hard work, very very hard work” he said.

UG is the defending champion and has won the competition in four straight years; UG is the most successful in the competition’s history and its success has translated to similar triumphs in the All Africa University Games in 2016 and 2018.

Earlier this year, UG won its third Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) Games in a row.

The 2020 UPAC is sponsored by MTN, Decathlon and CAL Bank.
